Serving up kindness along with your gratitude...
Your outpouring of love, comfort, and words that you found meaning in the very personal Love Letter I sent a couple weeks ago soothes my soul. Thank you. I'm sad that many of you share a similar pain. It's been a rough week here in California. My attention is extra close to home as Paradise is just 90 miles away. We've heard from friends and their families who have lost everything, many of whom barely escaped. There's no way to really know what that's like from the outside, so for me, the best response is to be present and to give as much as I can. (Much easier when I'm doing well with my self-care practice.) Our local community has rallied to support the people in Paradise. With plenty of focus on the humans, our family has chosen to attend to the animals who are affected by the Camp Fire by gathering food, supplies, and monetary donations. Paradise is very similar to our little mountain town here in Nevada City, California. It could so easily be us. It's scary to live in a place that could go up in flames at any moment. With so much in life that I have little control over, it feels good to know that I do have a significant say in the choices I make several times throughout every day. I'm grateful to avoid a part of the tradition that ends 45 million lives for just one day to celebrate...gratitude? |
