6 Easy Ways to Say No

wellness

Two of most common issues I help my coaching clients with are how to have good boundaries and how to say "no." These struggles are so pervasive that I want to share my tips with you too!

Saying “yes” is so ingrained in our culture that it’s easy to overwhelm our own schedules with other people’s priorities. Of course, there are plenty of good reasons that we say “yes.” We want people to like us, we want to be nice, we want others to be able to count on us. Yet how many times have you found yourself “forgetting” a commitment you made or doing something for someone while fuming about it?

With the many relationships we have in our lives, there always seems to be someone asking for something. And at times, there can be many people asking for many things. As caring people who want to be helpful, it can be challenging to decline these requests. But if we say "yes" to everything, our lives will instantly become unsustainable and joy will vanish. So how can we stay centered and on our own paths without upsetting everyone around us?

When we feel depleted and annoyed, it’s a big hint that we’ve been putting others before ourselves. Anger, jealousy, and resentment can be neon signs that we’re saying yes to everyone but us. So, how can we get out of this mess without a lot of drama?
